Short description of 3 day Sumur lake route.

The trail is going on the right side of the valley (by the river direction). The trail starts from the Samtanling Gompa (monastery), from bridge along fence to the littered backyard at right side of river. First 500 meters you will not see the trail. Because a lot of spiked bush hide it. But after 500 m , you will see apricot trees (with good apricots im august ;-) near the ruins of the house and next you will find the good trail. After next 500m trail will start hardly climbing up to 500-700m clean altitude up to fortress ruins. Do not forget bottle of drink water for this part. All next way up to the glacier trail is going up slowly and there is no problem with water. After next 2.5 km you will access oasis "Mal" with hut, you can use it for overnight or rest. Next 2.5 km by trail and you will cross right side stream with not very cold water. Bath is possible in that place. Next 7km is going by alpine meadows up to glacier near 2 or 3 lakes. There was semi-wild Yaks in valley. The biggest lake that you will see is Sumur lake. You need 2 day to going up, and 1 day to going down with good acclimatization for 5000m.
